Following the success of 2016, Light School, presented by Light Collective and hosted at Surface Design Show returns in 2017.

Light School is supported by the Institution of Lighting Professionals

Light School consists of three parts:

Product School

Light Talks

School Newspaper

The aim of Light School is to provide architects and designers with education and knowledge about lighting design and lighting products.

Light and Surface are inseparable partners so we want our audience to leave the show having learnt something that will change the way they see light.

Our Light Talks theatre hosts a programme of events providing architects and designers with access to many of the UK’s leading lighting designers.

Our star studded line-up of speakers ensures everyone attending is sure to 'graduate' in the lighting world.

We want to explain how light works, why we love it and why our audience should too.

Light School is an excellent initiative within the wider context of the Surface Design Show. Curated by the very talented Light Collective, Light School has brought in some excellent lighting designers to share their knowledge about light to interior designers who visit the show for inspiration. It's important that lighting design is shared with other design professions and Light School fulfills that brief perfectly.

Paul James, Editor, Mondo*arc Magazine

Light school provides a perfect mix of design professionals from all sectors. This year’s event allowed greater audience participation due to more informal layout and set up. Well done.
