Surface Design Show – bringing everyone back together

The UK Government has announced that professional exhibitions can take place again as from Thursday 1 October 2020.

Their decision has given the ‘green light’ to Surface Design Show to run from 9-11 February 2021 and we are thrilled to be one of the first events for the A + D sector to bring everyone back together.

We never stopped our planning for SDS21 and have been in close contact throughout the lockdown period with our venue, The Business Design Centre and the Department for Culture, Media and Sport through our industry’s professional bodies.

We very much look forward to creating an exciting and inspiring meeting place where our exhibitors and our visitors can once again congregate, make new contacts and initiate new business.

Surface Design Show 2021 will bring everyone back together.

Strict guidelines for running shows at the BDC have been developed by the venue

Similar guidelines have been introduced by our industry associations (AEO, AEV & ESSA) and we will be following their advice closely.

Some of the changes you will notice:

- Contactless badge screening
- 1-way visitor flow
- Controlled capacity to avoid overcrowding at peak times
- Increased ventilation in the venue
- Increased spacing between seating
- Frequent hand sanitisation stations
- More regular cleaning of the venue

We are certain these guidelines will change and be adapted as we get closer to next February’s Surface Design Show. The BDC is set to run a programme of exhibitions starting in October, so there will be plenty of opportunity to improve by experience.

Please contact us if you have any questions; we will be updating this page whenever the regulations are changed.
