Marna Alberts is a global citizen and lover of all things pattern. She has lived all over the world before finally settling in the UK. As a surface print designer, her practice revolves around the importance and influence of pattern on a person, place, or as a symbol for cultural identity. Her love of ethnic or heritage patterns constantly inspires her to further explore her own drawing and mark-making to combine multiple aesthetics of pattern design. Just as our world evolves, our patterns must also if they are to continue to represent us and our communities.
Marna uses block printing, screen printing, and digital printing together to coalesce both ancient and modern processes used in pattern making, layering them together to create unique and singular pieces of pattern. These are then used to create beautiful handmade soft furnishings for the home, combining colour and texture.
