SMILE Materials

Stand: 273
As part of the MTRL Library, SMILE Materials sit alongside some of the most forward-thinking innovations in contemporary material design. Their inclusion in the library allows specifiers to experience the material firsthand—exploring colour blends, surface finishes, translucency, and scale—encouraging early-stage specification and creative experimentation. The MTRL Library setting reinforces SMILE’s position as both a sustainable and design-led material choice.

Bold, expressive, and uncompromising in performance, SMILE Materials demonstrate that recycled surfaces can be beautiful, functional, and future-focused—making sustainability visible within the built environment.

SMILE Materials reimagines what surface design can be—transforming waste into wonder through materials that are beautiful, durable and inherently sustainable. Developed and manufactured in the UK, SMILE Materials are a new generation of high-performance recycled surface panels that wear their origins with pride.

At the heart of the collection is Smile Plastics — a range of supersized panels made entirely from 100% recycled and recyclable plastics, including post-consumer waste such as packaging, bottles and discarded appliances. These panels are produced in 3000 × 1200 mm formats with standard thicknesses of 12 mm and 20 mm, and can also be customised to project specifications. Each panel carries a distinct aesthetic character, with colours, patterns and flecks that reflect the waste streams from which they are made. This unique visual richness makes SMILE Materials as inspiring to look at as they are responsible to specify.
