Where is your isolation home right now?
Brockley, South East London
How are you coping with this new lifestyle?
Grim - whilst I like my own company, I thrive on face-to-face meetings with our industry. Zoom just doesn't cut it for me!
Do you have a daily schedule?
I always start early so there's no change there. But there's a big hole in the day when I would be having meetings with suppliers, advertisers, architects and designers. And the odd barking mad person.
What tends to be the highlight of your day?
Hearing some good news. Having cats around and not bumping in to my husband too often on the stairs (he's also working from home).
What are you missing most? And what don’t you miss at all?
Definitely don't miss commuting - but I do miss meeting people. I don't like being stuck in the house either - I'm essentially an outdoors person at the best of times!
Are there some long neglected jobs that you intend to get around to doing during the lockdown?
No. I thrive on being busy and that's when I squeeze in those long neglected jobs.
How do you think our sector will manage these difficult times?
It will look like a different world when we get to the other side - things will be more streamlined and having been forced to use IT, and workers being assessed on what they achieve rather than visible hours. Offices generally may be a thing of the past with a different attitude to independent working. This has been trialled for a long while but after months of lockdown we could be accelerated to the future for working practices, faster than we'd anticipated.
What topics are you going to be covering in your next few issues of FX that excite you and will excite us?
Well this extra time has enabled myself and Sophie to come up with some comical and hysterical new initiatives, for both architects and suppliers. All in the name of editorial!
What do you think we should be looking forward to when normal service resumes?
Oh God everything! Art , museums, galleries, exhibitions, parties, networking, walking, horses, riding, competing . The euphoria of living! - and of course doing those long neglected jobs!
Thanks Theresa for letting us self-isolate with you!
