Anja Schellenbauer
Anja is a passionate advocate for innovative climate-responsible and heritage-sensitive development solutions, building upon JRA’s established reputation as a leading voice in the commercial retrofit sector. During her 12 years as Associate Director and Head of Sustainability at Conran & Partners and previous experience at Grimshaw and Fletcher Priest Architects, Anja has focused her work on re-purposing underperforming buildings, mending the fabric of existing neighbourhoods and creating places where people love to live and work.
At C&P, Anja was responsible for the £95m reinvention of Grade II listed Centre Point Tower with change of use from office to high-end residential and an extensive amenity offering including a 30m infinity swimming pool, gym, spa, resident’s club and cinema room as well as award-winning workplace projects such as Conran´s headquarters in Clerkenwell. With over 20 years’ experience in project and risk management, contracts and construction law, Anja brings a highly considered and strategic approach to technically complex projects and architectural practice, seamlessly integrating technical, commercial aspects with cultural sensitivity, sustainability and innovation.
She is a Certified Passivhaus Designer and is listed on the RIBA Conservation Register. She contributes her expertise to the UK Net Zero Carbon Building Standard, the Sustainable Design Collective, Don’t Waste Buildings and enjoys sharing her knowledge and experience more widely within the industry.
