Jonathan Irawan
Jonathan Irawan is an Associate and the Computational Design Lead at Hassell and a member of the Design Council Expert Network, where he stands at the intersection of innovation, technology, and regenerative design. He explores cutting-edge workflows to shape a future where the built environment is defined by optimism, inclusivity, and carbon responsibility.
With a portfolio spanning Asia, Australia, and the UK, Jonathan focuses on "lighthouse projects" that move sustainable design from theory into scalable, practical applications. He consistently challenges "business-as-usual" practices by devising and deploying new systems; from embedding Life Cycle Assessments (LCAs) into the design process to exploring new procurement methodologies that enable maximum application of circular economy principles through material re-use and reclamation.
Beyond his project work, Jonathan is a prominent advocate for systemic industry change. In his capacity as an Embodied Carbon Co-ordinator within ACAN (Architecture Climate Action Network), he plays an instrumental role in driving tangible climate activism and policy advocacy within the construction industry.
