Commercial Building (Interior and Exterior)

Buildings that are used for commercial purposes, and include office buildings, factories and warehouses, hospitality and retail business. At least 50 percent of the buildings’ floor space will be used for commercial activities.


Light + Surface (Interior and Exterior)

The innovative use of light and the way it is inextricably linked to surfaces, whether it’s the effect the light has on the surrounding surfaces or the materials used to create the light.


Housing (Interior and Exterior)

Buildings such as houses, flats and apartments that are used for sheltering people. These could be either part of the private or public sector.


Affordable Housing (Interior and Exterior)

Affordable housing includes social rented, affordable rented and intermediate housing, provided to specified eligible households whose needs are not met by the market.


Public Building (Interior and Exterior)

A building used by the public for any purpose, such as assembly, education, entertainment, government, healthcare, transport or worship


Public Realm

The space around, between and within buildings that is publicly accessible, including streets, squares, parks and open spaces. These areas and settings support or facilitate public life and social interaction.


Retail Building (Interior and Exterior)

A building used for the sale of goods to the public for use or consumption rather than for resale. These might include shopping centres, high streets, retail concepts and in-store features.


Sustainable Surfaces (Interior and Exterior)

For projects where sustainability is at the forefront.
Projects that seek to minimize the negative environmental impact of buildings by efficiency and moderation in the use of materials, energy, and development space and the ecosystem at large.


Temporary Structures

A building that is not intended to remain where it is erected for more than a short period of time.
This award focuses on the increase of temporary and pop-up structures being more sophisticated and aesthetical in their design.
