Sustainability Trail

This year the Surface Design Show are introducing a Sustainability Trail. After speaking with the industry they have expressed that one of the most important considerations when deciding who to work with is their Sustainability.

This trail will allow visitors to scan a QR code at your stand and access information about what make our exhibitors products sustainable. Meet our Sustainability Trails Exhibitors now or scan their QR codes at the show to find out more.

Pit-To-Table

Our boards are made from 60% discarded olive pits and 40% bioresin from cashew nut shells. This bio-based mix transforms agricultural waste into a durable material that supports circular production and reduces dependence on fossil fuel derived products.

akustikplus

Sustainability is embedded at the heart of the company's operations. Our panels are wood based, which is more sustainable than the PET panels on the market. The factory produces enough electricity via its in-house hydropower and biomass power plants to power 8,000 homes in addition to its own operations.

We have x2 hydro power plants (situated on a river running through our factory) and a biomass plant which generates electricity using manufacturing waste. We produce enough electricity to run the whole factory and export enough to power 20,000 local homes.
Our products are wood based, rather than PET or concrete.

Armourcoat

Our mission is to create the best possible sustainable luxury finishes that make a positive impact on the health and longevity of the planet and its inhabitants. Our products use implicitly natural materials with zero VOCs and ultra-low emissions that are formulated for maximum longevity with minimal material usage.

Gruppo Saviola

Saviola's products are made from 100% recycled wood. The Ecological Panel® was the first panel of regenrated wood to be invented in the late 90'.

Surface Matter

As a Certified B Corp, Surface Matter help designers and architects use materials better.

With responsible surfaces made by ambitious manufacturers for projects designed with purpose, Surface Matter believe that change shouldn't mean waste. Sharing solutions that consider every stage of a project from design and build to strip-out and beyond, they help make it easier to reuse and recycle. With Material Rescue takeback, repair and adaptive reuse services, they want to keep quality materials in circulation.

Artstone Panel Systems

Artstone develops surfaces that bring creativity and environmental
responsibility together. At Artstone, sustainability is not an afterthought it is the quiet architecture behind everything we create. We believe that true innovation arises when creativity and responsibility move in harmony, empowering designers to imagine freely without surrendering environmental integrity. Here, care for the planet becomes a natural extension of design itself. Artstone and Arcqitone panels are born from this philosophy. Within our automated, LEED-certified facility, each surface is crafted with intention shaped by precision, refined for efficiency, and engineered to reduce environmental impact.

Applelec

Applelec Interiors designs and manufactures illuminated architectural surfaces with sustainability built in from the outset — not added as an afterthought. As part of the Applelec Group, we combine UK manufacturing, long-life product design and energy-efficient illumination to deliver responsible, specification-ready solutions for interior environments.

Central to this approach is the Applelec Recycling Scheme, which offers designers and end users a take-back and refurbishment pathway at end of life. Products are engineered for disassembly, allowing illuminated faces, finishes and lighting components to be replaced, upgraded or recycled — extending product life and supporting a genuinely circular economy.

Across LumiStone, LumiSorb and Parametric Walls, materials are carefully selected for durability, fire performance and recyclability, while illumination is engineered to deliver maximum visual impact with minimal energy consumption. By integrating light, material and performance as one complete system, Applelec Interiors enables expressive, high-quality interiors with reduced waste, lower energy use and clearly defined end-of-life solutions.

With tactile printing that enhances accessibility, adds depth and texture, and delivers premium, interactive experiences, we produce sustainable print you can see, feel, and trust.

Sphere8

Sphere8 prides itself on bringing sustainability to an industry with high CO2 emissions, and the continued and necessary interest in environmental impact from clients has garnered interest in Sphere8’s polyurethane resin surfaces, derived from the renewable resource castor beans. Our flooring systems can be used to imitate other, highly energy intensive flooring types, such as polished concrete, tiles or microcement, for a reduced environmental impact.
